The focus of the objective lens is very important for thermal imaging device since it influences such optical parameters as magnification and field of view. Thermal detection also depends on the focus of objective lens of thermal optic device. Different applications and goals require different parameters of the objective lenses.
Thermal scopes come with three objective lenses differing in focal distance 19mm, 38mm, 50mm which is reflected in their names.
In the Pulsar model range thermal imaging cameras with 30Hz and 50 HZ are marked with head letters H and X, e.g. Quantum HD or Quantum XQ respectively. 
Nowadays thermal imaging gained many fans due to its numerous advantages over classic night vision devices. The first and the main difference that underlies all benefits of thermal vision scope is its basic principle of operation. The detector can perceive even the slightest differences in temperature of various objects.  The signal from detector is processed in electronic modules of thermal imaging camera and transferred to the screen.
Temperature difference between the object and the background can often count up to a few dozen degrees and because of that on the screen the object is greatly distinguished from the background.
Night vision devices based on image tube intensifiers are dependent on remaining light and this fact limits their use to sceneries with at least a small amount of remaining light present. In other words if there are no remaining light night vision devices cannot produce a decent image. In these conditions a night vision scope requires additional source of light and this role is performed by an auxiliary IR illuminator. The illuminator lights up the scene, the light gets reflected from the objects and gathered by the optics of night vision device.
Another significant advantage of thermal cameras over night vision devices based on image tube intensifiers is their ability to see through smoke, fog, haze, or any other unfavorable weather conditions. Night vision scopes are not able to see through fog or smoke.
When Pulsar thermal imaging scopes are designed and developed many factors are taken into account. Each mode has different settings of contrast and brightness and is designed with regard to the prevailing temperatures in certain conditions. There are some factors describe why it is better to choice Pulsar thermal imaging scopes.
The first and the most important is the image quality. The objective and eye piece optics, sensor, display, electronics, all these components must work flawlessly together to ensure that even the slightest details are distinguishable.
The second important factor is that housing materials must not be heavy since real life applications often involve stressful physical activity where additional weight can become an obstacle. Design of Pulsar devices also takes into account the ergonomics of use. It must be done in such a way as to make sure that all buttons are under the right fingers.
The devices must not be battery consuming since it will be hard to find replacement for batteries. Normal lifetime of a set of batteries in Quantum thermal imagers can reach 6 hours if video out is deactivated. When a new rechargeable battery pack PULSAR DNV is used the lifetime can reach up to 10 hours.
Also All thermal imaging devices have three modes of collaboration. “Automatic” mode is better for pure observation purposes, “Semi-automatic” mode is better for video, “Manual” calibration mode or silent is helpful when someone needs to stay covert during observation at close distances.

YUKON PHOTON XT 6.5x50S


A new and innovative digital night vision riflescope delivers excellent performance, versatility, and value.
The Yukon Photon XT Digital Night Vision Rifle Scope is a new hybrid technology, unique to Yukon Advanced Optics. A technologically advance digital night vision module is fused with a traditional riflescope body, to produce a night vision scope that has characteristics similar to a daylight scope, yet has the capability of use in total darkness.
A hard anodised, 30mm aluminium alloy body tube enables easy mounting to a variety of rifles, and is both durable and highly water and shock resistant. A large aperture eyepiece with easy diopter adjustment, provides comfortable viewing with a generous eye relief. The eyepiece is furnished with a soft rubber eyepiece for the prevention of light spill that would otherwise scare off game.
The image is formed with an infrared biased CMOS digital sensor. This sensor amplifies low ambient light, making the Yukon Photon XT less dependent on IR light than many other budget night vision systems. An inbuilt infrared LED illuminator with three brightness settings produces a very clean image when used in extreme darkness. There is also provision for attaching an additional infrared flashlight, such as a Pulsar LED or Laser infrared flashlight, for extending the range of the Yukon Photon XT.
The reticle is produced electronically, and there is a choice of 6 designs, which can be easily selected on-the-fly, without loss of zero. The colour of the reticle can be be selected to display as red, green, or white, depending on the prevailing conditions. Zeroing of the reticle is performed via the main menu. The Yukon Photon XT is a reticle moving system, which ensures that full image quality and field-of-view is maintained at all times.
The Yukon Photon XT produces a very good image, with excellent contrast and resolution. The image brightness has 15 levels of adjustment, and a video-out socket enables recording via a Newton CVR640, Yukon MPR, or for display on a screen for viewing in real-time. This sight cannot be damaged by high light exposure, and can be used during the daytime if required.
The Yukon Photon XT is suitable for all calibres up to a muzzle energy of 6000 joules (4425 ft./lbs), and heralds a new era in high quality, affordable night vision sighting systems.
The Yukon Photon is supplied with a lens cloth, carrying case, and is supplied with a carry case, instruction and care manual, and a 3 year manufacturer's warranty, only available from an authorised Yukon Optics dealer.
